In simple terms, Fair trade coffee means that the coffee workers received a fair wage for their work. A fair wage goes a long way; it allows the workers to buy a house, to plan for a family, to send kids go school, and so on. Fair trade coffee does not signify a taste quality, but signifies a quality of life. We strongly encourage you to purchase certified fair trade coffee.
Old Rock is certified by Transfair Canada and must adhere to a vigorous reporting structure to maintain good standing and certification with Transfair Canada. Old Rock received its latest Fair Trade certificate in January 2007. Old Rock has been certified by Transfair Canada since April 2006.
Old Rock’s philosophy is to whenever possible purchase fair trade coffee (unless it is unavailable). Fair trade coffee do have a slightly higher price, but the cost is less than a canadian nickel per cup.
